Jazzman's Café
University of Montevallo
75 College Dr.
Montevallo, AL 35115
Jazzman's Café and Bakery serves the Montevallo community a varied menu including items such as salads, wraps, burgers, baked goods, coffee, and smoothies. The café can be found on the bottom floor of the Student Union Building (Farmer Hall) on the University of Montevallo's campus and is open from 8am to 10pm Monday through Thursday, 8am- 6pm Friday, and 8am- 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Jazzman's is open to anyone, but as the café is situated in the middle of campus, it serves as a popular spot for students to stop by for coffee, baked goods, and meals in between classes. Campus meal plans also have built-in flex points that may be used to purchase food from Jazzman's, making the café particularly popular with students as a place to hang out and study. Jazzman's is a part of a larger chain with over 500 locations in the US and Canada. These cafés are a part of Sodexo, a company that provides food and facility management services, which also manages the campus cafeteria.
Jazzman's puts a lot of focus on the idea of Coffeengaged, “Coffee with a world view.” This entails only using coffee from completely sustainable co-ops, coffee farms, and community growers that pay a fair wage to the workers. Also, taking into account social responsibility, Jazzman's line of coffee is USDA Organic, Fair Trade, UTZ, and Rain Forest Alliance certified, as well as being bird friendly and shade grown. To find out more about the company, you can visit http://www.jazzmanscafe.com/index.htm or their parent company, Sodexo at http://www.sodexousa.com/.
